Default Be brave, Schapelle.

You are not the first young Aussie woman to be persecuted unjustly in Asia....many have suffered before you....in different circumstances...but persecuted nonetheless.

I'd say it's just another example of Uluru and his appaling redneck anti-asian tirade and racist generalisations.:o

He continually uses this forum as a means to express his blatant anger and hatred against asia, Indonesia usually but not always, under the thin veil of 'caring' about Schapelle. He clearly hated them (asians) before these events unfolded

Admin: can you pls ask him to tone it down?

Will/can he still post without derogatory references to asia/asians in every single post he makes?

What has Japans actions in WWII got to do with Schapelles situation today, more than 60 years later???????

Yes there are some bad asians.......and bad aussies and bad poms and yanks and kiwis and so on; is there any point at all in him regularly and constantly making such sweeping statements as he does ?

If he's so fixated on WWII then what about the German attrocities? Let's face it most of us have moved on from those times, not forgotten them, just realised that time goes on and the world changes

I'm sure that Mercedes wouldn't appreciate his criticism/statements either esp considering the race of her husband and that of Schapelle's ex.

Nurses and other Aussie women about Schapelle's age were taken to Japanese prisons and persecuted in horrid conditions, but stayed strong of spirit and eventually returned home.

'Paradise Road'.

Plot Outline: Fact-based recounting of a group of women who are imprisoned on the island of Sumatra by the Japanese during World War II and used music as a relief to their misery. (more) (view trailer)

Bryan I have spoken with Uluru and asked him to tone it down a little. I appreciate his energy and enthusiasm for defending Schapelle but I just want to make sure our efforts stay positive and arent construed as racist. Hopefully others feel the same way.

It shouldn't.

Racism, of course, is a two-way street.

Default Publicity Stunt

So, now that I've erased all of what I really wanted to say!! I would just like to thank Uluru and Bryan for being kind to Schapelle.......even though they think that she is guilty.

Lets pick a date and all fly over there with bright red t-shirts emblazoned "Corby is innocent" and have a cell party with Schapelle. All of us will carry empty suitcases that are witnessed by JP's at the airport before checking in. This would be a great publicity stunt!!! It would lift Schapelle's spirits.....that people still care and dare to stand up for her in public......especially at Indonesian airports and around Indonesia itself. "Corby is Innocent" stickers in Indonesian emblazoned all over our suitcases would be great too.

Let's see how many suitcases have been tampered with....................or actually have drugs in them. Probably none, but it would be a good morale booster for poor Schapelle anyhoo!!

I believe Schapelle is innocent...you'd wonder how many times I have to say it.

Fact is...there were drugs in her bag...of that there is no contest.
The contest is how they got there.
The Indonesian cops say they're hers...'we' say they're not.
They say they are, that she's a drug smuggler...'we' say she's not.
'We' produced witnesses and other evidence...they ignored it....gave her 20 years...triple the sentence of anyone else for the same offence.

They might overturn her conviction...hopefully they will.
There's a good chance they won't too.

Unlike "Bridget Jones", whose human rights lawyer boyfriend "Mark Darcy" could wake up Cabinet Ministers and spy agencies and track down the culprit who owned the drugs in "Bridget's" bag, Schapelle has no such access to the govt and even so no one knows who the culprit is.
Well, one Oz prisoner said he knew who owned them and it wasn't Schapelle.
The judges said he only wanted some fresh air and sunshine.

So, unless Schapelle can produce the owner of the drugs, the Indonesian justice system says she's guilty...end of section.

"Indonesia" should, and can, do something...a lot...about her sentence though...their judicial review judges could easily find plenty of reasons to reduce it substantially...to say 3 years...or time already served.

I'll pass on the flight, red T Shirt, empty suitcase and publicity stunt thanks.

We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack. We continue to receive a stream of reporting indicating that terrorists are in the advanced stages of planning attacks against Western interests in Indonesia against a range of targets, including places frequented by foreigners.
