Hi, I am Swedish student. So many people, myself included, could be in your situation. I feel sympathy for you. I am a chinese major and lived in Shanghai during one year. I don´t know what kind of hell your prison is but I have a suggestion for passing some of the time in a meaningful way, in case you haven´t started already, start learning the language. Encapsule yourself, focus on becoming absolutely one hundred procent fluent in their language. Get some kind of teacher. Learn their dialects, to the point of perfection, learn it all. Gain complete understanding, as if your were born there. Learn their customs, ways of walking, tone of voice, posture etc. Blank out your identity for a while and replace it with something else. Know your enemy or something like that.. This might sound completely crazy, I don´t even know you and I´m giving you weird ideas of how to cope with something I have no clue about. Well, I´m only doing it because it´s the only thing I can offer you, it´s what I study, what I do on some way. Gotta go.
