True Kathryn Bonella may be a articulate journalist but she is also a person who directly profits everytime one of Shapelles books are sold. She's a former producer for 60 Minutes and surprise, surprise channel 9 has the exclusive rights to the Corby story.

You make out Kathryn went to some war zone and risked her life in the name of her profession. I cant imagine any considerable risk to Kathryn in Indonesia except her mini bar in her nice hotel running dry or the food not up to scratch. Its Indonesia not Sierra Leone.

Surely you must realise that the reason why no one did what Kathryn did was that the Corby's had already made a deal with Kathryn to be the co-writer of Shapelle's book. It's not like Kathryn offered her services for free. Everyday as more Shapelle books are sold Kathryns bank balance just keeps getting rosier-now what was that old saying about laughing all the way to the bank...?

And as for our mate Alan " cash for comment" Jones , is he not also on the channel 9 payroll ?? im actually certain he is .. so not sure sure he is the impartial , objective voice of reason when analysing this debate.

Yes Alan "cash for comment" Jones is on the Channel 9 pay role. It's all one nice cosy family bankrolled by 9. Jones is in a postion were his true views may be comprimised as he is on the 9 payrole. Once again Jones has comprmised his principles for cash. But hey with Alan we all know that if you wave enough cash in front of him he would announce that hell would freeze tomorrow. Now where's my wallet...

Kathryn Bonella didn't help get this book out into the world so she could cynically earn a dollar from it. Kathryn passionately believes that Schapelle is innocent and says so in the book. There is no mistaking her resolve in all of this. And it wasn't an easy book to write under the circumstances which is why it was done in secret. The risks of writing it openly in a such a corrupt system demanded it.

Try dirt and sticks in with the rice, bathing out of a bucket in the pig sty prison, the same as Schapelle....sort of like I imagine a Sierra Leone prison to be.

Looking at it from a financial poit of view:

Say I were in jail in Bali instead of Schapelle and I wanted to write a book, what would it cost me to hire a good, articulate journalist to write it for me, organise the photos, layout, editing, and proper composition of it....arrange distribution and sale?
What would I have to pay the journalist to be in Bali for a long time and to visit a prison and take risks?

Quite a tidy sum I'd say.

Although the book is a best-seller, this is not America where the population is 300 million.
The costs in producing this book would be substantial....the printers must be paid.

Much of the proceeds of sales would be paid out in costs.
Yes, Kathryn will receive part of the profits, but IMO the sum won't be as much as some people perceive.
The proceeds from the book won't be making anyone rich.
IMO Kathryn helped Schapelle get her story told as she believes in her cause.

Uluru, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that Alan Jones and Kathryn Bonella are all on the PBL payroll. They're just towing the PBL line. Milking it for what it is worth.
